Hhhh, CSS grid layout is... nice, but surprisingly hard to make it conserve vertical space.
No one seems to consider printing an HTML page anymore 
I just wanna have one CV document to send as PDF and use on my website. Hence the need for a layout engine that doesn't waste vertical space.

if it helps, I've found webkit, and chromium specifically, has the best, most consistent results and the most flexibility in page styling and layout (e.g., you can use matchMedia to change the page just for print media or do page-based calculations)
(That said, you could make your life a lot easier by just using LaTeX and BibTeX for a CV)
