@izaya yeah, not bad. is pinephone your main phone?
@lucifargundam I'm sure I will once I get it. Given that it is beta, I'm wondering what the experience of troubleshooting and bug reporting is like. Are there good tools for pulling memory dumps, log files, etc? How much does the Pine64 group do themselves in terms of software support? Is it just low-level stuff and the rest they just point you to Manjaro? Is bug reporting integrated into the platform like, for ex, reportbug on Debian? That kind of thing.
@izaya
@izaya yeah, I thought that might be the case. I'm OK with the "it's just a computer, do what you like with it" model, since I'm getting it to play around with. So, I'm guessing I don't have to jump through hoops to "root" the device like with most commercially sold Android phones.

I've been running mobian- which some may feel is 'lacking' in features, but that's more of a residual debian thing. Mobian comes with gnome software installed but you can use the terminal to install other stuff and add repos to your update list.
Mobian is pretty well-connected imo. I'd do plan on implementing my own fixes/patches until upstream catches up. If that's not for you, then you might be inclined to try another distro. Again, you do have a terminal with sudo privileges- so you can install other packages on top of it.

To elaborate, here's an example of what to expect:::
