I wrote about how some people are gonna need a minute before they're comfortable putting away masks, eating inside, being in crowds. It doesn't mean they're anti-science, it often means they went through something. They deserve compassion and patience.

@soup_reviews didn't know this was a thing. Probably the biggest mask related psychological effect I've experienced is the dreams where I'm silently freaking out that no one is wearing a mask in public, but I'm not either. It's like I suddenly realize everyone around is kinda nuts but I just have to roll with it.

@2ck ive heard from a few people that this is a thing! super weird how we can integrate mask wearing into dreams easily, but not phone screens or computer interaction O.o

Apparently, that applies to tech generally. Although, I have some lingering questions about the methodology for this analysis: I have a hunch that the dreams and dream details which are reported might be particularly emotional, so some of the technologies appearing in dreams may simply be forgotten.

The experience of everyone suddenly wearing masks
in public to protect against a new and deadly disease--coupled with the "oh sh*t" moment of CDC telling us "take your old T-shirts, cut 'em up, and wrap them around your face: that's the best we can do right now-- was undoubtedly stressful for a lot of us, so if stress is the thing, it's no surprise it's in our dreams.
