I guess an #introduction is in order. I am an astronomer & astrophysicist (same thing!) who works on galaxies, cosmology, and the missing mass problem. Here is a sketch I made a long time ago of what I call the dark matter tree. The empirical roots of the problem grow into the various branches of possible solutions. Our ambition as theorists is to invent the right solution; our goal as observes is to prune the tree until only the correct solution survives. #astrodon #darkmatter #MOND

@trinsec 12 just for you?
here's the podcast episode I heard about the project from: https://www.nasa.gov/johnson/HWHAP/astromaterials-3D
an interview with the PI and a lab manager from the project

combined the cranberry sauce I made yesterday with some Sriracha and put it over some rice and beans I'd cooked earlier. it's not a taste sensation, but I like it: the Sriracha's acidity cuts the bitterness of the cranberry. the mixture, while sweet, isn't saccharine, and it really works well with the pepper flavor

'Princess Joveta sends her grateful thanks to her friend the great Khan for his kind gift of her new pet Velociraptor, with whom she is delighted. Isambart now responds to his name, is taking well to training, and bids fair to becoming a very fine hunter.'
Joveta, by the way, is a Frankish princess.

AI's aren't sentient. They can't "steal."
Programmers and institutions select the data with which to train the model. They take art and writing from artists and authors without credit or payment. The software then remixes and mimics what it is given.
Displacing agency by attributing intent to the AI is exactly how people and institutions erase human action in the creation of technology. It also leads to further perceptions of technology as acultural, unbiased, and, in essence, magical.
guys. this is really dope

tastes pretty good as toast. it didn't brown very deeply (none of my bread does...), but there's decent crunch. the crust isn't too hard (roof of my mouth is safe). tastes decent with the spread I made
@mwt @davidmiller @skwinnicki @thesetinysighs@eightpoint.app @rocketroom @queerornithology tusky allegedly has this feature now, though i haven't tried it yet
@grudgecat I agree with the top comment though: who makes a sandwich like that?
@Alikufogo honestly, I had less of a problem with this casting. Motoko has had her whole body replaced, so why not her face? Also, in the same movie, I believe she's portrayed by a Japanese actress when she's younger.
I never saw this movie though😛
food
@lucifargundam i guess more bagel (it's sort of a schmeer) but I put it on some toast and it was fine.
since you seem interested, I don't have a precise recipe, but I used about 75g fresh cranberries, 1 scant tsp coconut oil, an indeterminate amount of walnuts, a bit of brown sugar, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/2 tbsp of chocolate vegan protein powder. put it all in a Cuisinart and ran it until it was the consistency you see
food
@lucifargundam it's more like a condiment/spread
The way of the househusband is absurd. I kinda love it

🍞
I think it turned out ok. it's the softest interior I've made.
ingredients:
2 cups tap water
363g bread flour
81g brown rice flour
1tbsp salt
80g maple syrup+ more for proofing
16g pure cane sugar for proofing
1-2 tsp (total) basil, sage, and tarragon
first proof in the mixing bowl
until about doubled
second proof in a parchment paper-lined bread pan until it's nearly
baked at 375°F until i could bring a knife out clean, but removed from the pan and put back in for another 5 minutes or so
