@troublewithwords really? I see critical comments for a lot of things.
Most of my embroidery is intuitive in that I pick colors and sometimes a stitch and then I just let the threads talk to each other. If anyone speaks “thread,” I’d love a translation cuz these had something to say.
my #printersolstice #linocut of #astronomer Vera Rubin (neé Cooper, ‘28-‘16) & her discovery that angular motion of galaxies deviates from predictions, 1st evidence for dark matter, now known as 5x as common as matter & the stuff which dictates dynamics of galaxies & evolution of our universe! The Nobel committee waited 3 years after she died to reward another for the theory of dark matter.

I wonder if it's just the people I've worked with, but security and compute infrastructure people tend to preferentially refer to hosts by their IP address rather than host name. always seemed counterintuitive to me since the host name is usually the more stable identifier

@kdelucca30 I wonder if there are political implications to a separate clock system on the moon. if it governs when people are active and the rhythms of life, it seems possible
(also, dumb pun: every day on the moon is a Monday)

@izaya I'm not sure what a normal person is. I think a lot of people who aren't journos, famous ppl, or other influence junkies do read and post to Twitter regularly. Still, i agree that the fact that influential people care about what happens on Twitter is a major reason why it's important
Wow, there's innovation in propeller shapes (which i thought we're close to optimal for a century): toroidal propellers https://newatlas.com/aircraft/toroidal-quiet-propellers/ >50% performance improvement at midrange rpms in liquids!
@flexghost It looks like that's not exactly accurate. It's the review process, the likely unconstitutional prohibition against recommending books for educational purposes, and the batshit insane threat of felony charges leveled against individual teachers that I'd call attention to. That and the waste of time for taxpayer funded educators
Nature is full of surprises. Meet Costasiella kuroshimae, an adorable species of sea slug known as “leaf sheep.”
At no more than 8mm, these tiny ocean critters graze on algae & keep chloroplasts in their bodies for up to 10 days. They supplement their diet through photosynthesis to create energy, which is why they’re sometimes referred to as “solar-powered sea slugs.” https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20210324-the-odd-sea-creature-powered-by-the-sun #nature #science
