On #Wikipedia, I'm fascinated by what I can only call "active indifference" by the English editors in covering (or not) the fall of FTX and #crypto crises. The wiki community is famous for the "piranha effect" of mobilizing quickly to capably and reliably edit about every notable storm, bombing, shooting, crime, or tragedy. But for #crypto topics, it's a spotty patchwork of half-finished timelines, summaries, and biographies.

Now, it's true the #Wikipedia community has been skeptical or dismissive of #crypto for a while now, including a notable community consultation (RfC) started by @molly0xfff this year that gave an official "Nah" to crypto donations to the Wikimedia Foundation.

So why hasn't a community of "crypto haters" taken root and become hyper-active in Wikipedia like we know it has for many other topics?

@fuzheado If its worth anything, from what I've seen in other forums elsewhere is that there isn't a significant "anti-crypto" crowd, that is people who are passionate about hating crypto stuff. I find it very plausible that the group of people that don't like crypto are not motivated to contribute to wikipedia in that capacity. Just my thoughts.

@JackFromWisconsin @fuzheado I hate crypto, but it’s more frustration about how did people not see this coming. If it was just VCs losing their shirts I might be amused, but it’s so many people who can’t afford to, but who jumped in because they looked at all the advertising and concluded this must be legit
