@Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social I think this is bad point of view. He provides service, makes jobs, and very net positive for economy, comparing to that twitter twat I'd rather save him that 500 of such twitter posters. We cannot as humanity weight every life before saving. And blaming him for polluting when happily buying brand new iPhone +1 version when old can serve another 10 years is bigger problem

@AncientGood @Radical_EgoCom this is an absolutely deranged thing to believe

“The economy” Is a measure of how well rich people are extracting value from the planet to benefit themselves at our expense. It has no relationship to the average person. Saying this guy is “a net positive for the economy” Is like saying “It sure would boost casket sales if we just had more serial killer morticians” and pretending that casket sales going up meant we were all better off

People like this produce millions of times more waste and environmental damage than the average person. Comparing that to replacing an iphone, a device that was literally engineered by rich people to go bad prematurely, is pretty fucking stupid.

You could never buy a new thing again, grow your own food, live 100% off of rainwater, get all your energy from windmills that you built with recycled parts, and you’d still barely be a drop in the swimming pool of shit produced by these people. If you convince every person you know to go 100% carbon neutral, self sustaining, etc, it won’t matter, because this one dude outweighs everyone in Chicago.

And you’re out here playing devils advocate for him. Why? To what end? You aren’t ever going to be one of these people. You get nothing from trying to promote positive attitudes towards them.

Defending them is way more harmful to the world than someone buying a damn phone.

@pope, I mean, the moment we start measure human life value by some measuring stick, we are failing as Western civilization and going back to medieval times if not further away. Just look at all this situation from this side - we almost on the start of new era when we normalized some shitty social credit score and decide to help or not simply by this measure. Oh, he is crappy person, just look at all this damage he makes, let him die painfully in very shitty situation.

Now, irony here is that initial twit was made most likely by social parasite, who sits on welfare checks and has nothing better to do than shit-post on twatter, has basically no social value, yet taken seriously

And what damage he (not twitter shit head, the company owner) does? Does he spend family riches to just burn gasoline and produce carbon? I bet 5 bucks that's not how it works. He provides service, other people using it, yet intellectual majority blames one person. It's just like bad parenting, oh poor retarded kid ran into a dresser, looks, here I kick dresser, feel better? What kinda logic is that?

The whole system is fucked, all these "feels good about being carbon neutral" idiots just shifting production into China (aka sweeping dirt under the rag), so let's China be most polluter in the world when we buy new iPhone and slap gently our cheeks as in feels-good.jpg, pointing into some poor (figuratively) bloke and gloating at his demise is counterproductive

> how well rich people are extracting value from the planet

It seems you don't even have basic understanding how economy works. Is this extracted value from the planet in the room with us right now? I'm failing to see how providing flight service is extracting value from the planet
