Seriously though, what is the psychology behind going shopping with a terrible sounding phlegmy cough, like the type of cough where you spend more time coughing than breathing, and not wearing a mask? I truly do not understand what the mental calculus is to come to that decision.

@irenetosetti Can’t find the study again now but at least 30% of Americans said yes to “I would get in a plane even if I knew I had COVID”.

I feel like maybe I was just naive prior to COVID, but I never thought it was socially acceptable to get on a plane with the flu and I used to fly quite a bit.

Why is it suddenly OK for the person next to you on the plane to be hacking up a lung the whole time?

@irenetosetti @BE I think I was more using my ignorance to feed my cognitive bias that getting on a plane with a respiratory virus was “not really that bad”. Now I’m unable to ignore all that I have learned. 😷

@irenetosetti @BE I fly in and out of Fort St John for work regularly. Along with all the workers from the dam. You can bet every penny that they’re not not getting on the plane home if they have a sniffle.
