Small thread critiquing Twin Oaks Community's covid protocol:

"There are a variety of preferences in the community about how cautious to be, and we aim to find a middle ground."

Not a great start

"Visitors must supply 2 rapid/home tests between the last 3 days before arriving and the arrival day. (Wednesday/Friday), OR a negative PCR COVID test within 3 – 5 days before arrival."

That's a 5 day window for someone to test negative on a PCR and then bring covid with them. Was the test conducted safely? Was the attendant wearing a mask? How does someone know they aren't picking up covid from that appointment?

"MASKS: we ask that you bring masks to use if needed."

What does "if needed" mean?

"If visitors are traveling by public transportation (bus, train, plane), they must wear a KN-95 mask while traveling."

And what about people driving themselves? Are there anticipations of blindspots like not wearing a mask when popping into convenience stores along the way?

"Middle ground" solutions are not infection control and do not protect anyone. You either care about infection control or you don't. It is that black and white

"Cultures of SARS-CoV-2 should be handled in a Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) laboratory using BSL-3 practices"

Everyone feels the need to "both sides" everything these days.

@BE @currentbias
1. "Let's compromise on the middle ground"
2. High-risk people avoid the event
3. "No one active in our group is high risk, so we don't need a health and safety policy after all"
