Here's the reality: they usually don't know. If they did, they'd taken it into account. We're a society of shreiking hairless apes jumping into flying metal tubes coordinated by 60 year old undesigned ad-hoc terminal-based software nobody quite understands anymore that can't be replaced, with the primary goal being to get a high score in a rigged game.

It's actually impressive that "delay" is the most common failure mode - "complete system collapse" is the edge they're flirting with. The goal isn't customer satisfaction or safety - never has been. Profit ruins everything.

Feel better? I don't. But - I don't fly anymore.

@Biggles Of course they know - some human made the decision to ground the flight, and that decision rationale should be made public, for both metrics/comparison purposes and shaming negligent operators (and maybe, fuel for better regulation)
