it's amazing sometimes how much of senior engineering (or even leadership) is just an extremely practiced facility with web searches
there is real value when, if you don't have all the answers, you do know how to ask the right questions... ;)
@paul_ipv6 kinda like how sometimes you learn a lot more from a failure (what *doesn’t* work) than from success (“this worked, and we don’t know why”)

this does assume, as you say, that one learns from one's bad decisions. ;)
That one has an *opportunity* to learn from bad decisions isn't always the case. but as they say - burned hand teaches best.
I still prefer to learn from the mistakes of others. Less painful.
