i can't imagine a human banging on a 5000 psi pressure vessel would trigger a failure, unless it was right on the verge of failing

" Twitter's hate speech woes continue, and that impacts ad sales. Various reports have indicated that hate speech has surged on Twitter under Elon Musk, leading Australia today to order Twitter to explain how it's combating a rapid rise in hate, The Washington Post reported. If Twitter fails to show it's complying with Australia's online safety law, it risks daily fines up to $475,000. Maximum penalties could be fines as high as $700,000 a day."

the discourse of if the groversub billionaires deserved to die is very silly because it’s like asking if a bunch of guys driving a tank into an active volcano with a bunch of dry ice and liquid nitrogen strapped to it to keep cool “deserved” to die. it was an inevitability. the fact the sub lasted as long as it did was frankly more surprising

What's happening now with the #US and #Modi is why I've always been annoyed with the conflation of "ally" with anything more than the practical aligning of interests. Choosing allies is not a matter of "wanting to be an ally" and sometimes it doesn't even mean "shared values".

But did they prove that the orcas didn't break it open? #OceanGate

Here's a crazy idea: next time someone wants to see the bottom of the ocean, why not send a bot or drone? It's not like you can see much with your eyes.

“For steering, the #Titan relies on a Logitech F710 Wireless PC Gamepad controller. […] Passengers sit barefoot on the floor with no seatbelt, cushioning, or any other human comfort aside from a rudimentary “toilet.” […] the “viewport” (e.g., window) that was only rated for “a certified pressure of 1,300 meters […], although OceanGate intended to take passengers down to depths of 4,000 meters.”

Who the hell allowed a sub like this to take on ANY passengers? 🤯
