Ok, here is the brief: I had just read this brilliant paper-in-progress by @maxkasy : The political economy of AI regulation: Towards democratic control of the means of prediction (https://maxkasy.github.io/home/files/papers/handbook_politicalecon_ai.pdf) and the seed of a story was planted in my mind (literally a unique experience for me).
