Going to start unfollowing accounts that post about US politics without content warnings, and accounts that boost those posts.

If you "NeEd To GeT tHe MeSsAgE oUt!1!1!" write a damn press release.

@ivanvector
I was going to grumble about mastadon’s excellent filter system, but you are right.

I’m not on board with putting a CW in front of every cat or dog photo or science article… but I want people to mostly follow me for the cute/pretty/interesting things and not the politics.

Easy enough to repost with a CW and a citation, until the capability to CW boosts happens.

@DrJLCatlett That's pretty much the way I see it. I'm here for the weird and diverse things that make people happy. and I hope for the most part people feel comfortable posting whatever they want in that vein.

I'm also generally here for the politics and I'll post about politics myself, but if we could have just one social space where we're not constantly having things shoved in our faces that we're told to be angry at or afraid of, that would be great.

@DrJLCatlett As for pet pics, there's an old convention of putting a CW on images with eye contact, including pet pics. I never knew why, just that it seemed to be a decent thing to do, so I still do it.

I don't have to understand why every different thing might be triggering to some people. Just being told that it is ought to be enough sometimes.

@ivanvector hmm, hadn’t thought about eye contact. I’ll take that into consideration in the future.
