You mean the comment about politicians?
@DrJLCatlett Generally. I did the joke, translated and i think it works better in english. Not thinking about contents here, just about feels.
It works both ways for me. Of course, I’m mentally translating the German, so I might miss nuance.
@DrJLCatlett I got no hint of you speaking german, so please explain: why/how do you speak this useless, exotic language? Reviewing the posts now, to see if a more rational approach might be explainable.
I don’t post in German much. I read and understand spoken German fairly well and speak conversational German well enough to get by in person. I struggle to write in German because my grammar is atrocious. I’m working on it though.
As to why I learned German, some of my ancestors were German, Danish and Dutch, and German was one of the languages taught in my school. I thought it would be nice connection to my family, and I spent a year in Germany after graduation.
Learning German has helped me learn other languages. It is better than my French or Spanish, but I may never have learned those if I hadn’t learned German first.
And quite frankly, learning other languages by knowing this and that, that has always been bullshit to me. It never worked. At least for me.
And yeah, i do think english can be dismissive easier than other languages ;-)
@admitsWrongIfProven
@admitsWrongIfProven
Vielen Dank.
Warum? Weis ich nicht.
@DrJLCatlett Die Wege des Patriarchiats sind unergründlich. Leider auch für mich.
