Exciting BBSRC collab now hiring a PhD student!

Antimicrobial peptides - silver bullets or lead? I will be a co-supervisor (ad limited to 1 prof per univ but plan is 50/50 Ben Raymond/me at UoE).

This proj. follows work by myself & the Raymond lab on host-microbe / microbe-microbe interactions. AMPs are potential therapeutics, but could AMP therapeutics -> resistance evolution against human immune defences (😬)?

We have a new paper out!

We looked at vesicle transport in cells. The textbooks say it's all motor-driven, but this idea is based on how large organelles are transported. Instead we find small vesicles move mainly by diffusion! We came up with a way to restrict the diffusion of one vesicle type (we made them furry!) & that reduces cargo delivery.

Congrats to my co-author Méghane Sittewelle who did all the imaging magic!
