Often we hear about Silicon Valley workers protesting racism, homophobia, transphobia, even, to a lesser degree, ableism (but not classism or ageism). And I think we tend to think of Silicon Valley (it includes San Francisco and Oakland, after all) as at least liberal and at least somewhat progressive because of it.
But there has also long been a capitalist libertarian streak. It's one reason you hear so rarely about classism and ageism, because workers would be more seriously challenging their bosses if 1) they even understood ageism and classism, and 2) objected to these as strongly as they do to racism, sexism, and the rest.
