#MastodonEtiquette question: since DMs here are direct messages not private messages, if you wanted to reply to someone and only wanted them to see the reply vs. anyone who follows your feed, is that generally cool here or frowned upon like unsolicited DMs on Twitter?
Despite the shared name, they are not the same.
DM's out of the blue (not replies) you have to by careful with. DM's within a conversation are kosher.
@EubieDrew yes I think that's a good way to look at it too!
@EubieDrew I guess it is probably an individual preference... some people might think it's not a big deal, others might want some sort of pre-approval of a DM I guess.
Personally I've never really cared either way I guess.
