To those of you who can pull a single coffee filter from the top of the highly-compressed stack they come in on the first try, I salute you.

Why is it so difficult to get that one coffee filter off the stack? It's like child proof pill bottles - don't they know I'm in desperate need of the coffee, and it's early and I'm tired, and don't need this challenge??

Last office I worked in, one of the comrades used to lick his fingers to peel the filters.
I started taking my own coffee.
