👇This is a long piece, but I could not stop reading.

It might be many things, some more prosaic than others. I do not know the author and it seems a counterpoint to articles published elsewhere by others. Not being an American I also have not shared in these events nor do I believe immediately to understand them.

Nonetheless, to me it resonated deeply as a eulogy of times passed, in journalism as in society. And an ominous warning of what all this might mean in our future.
