I don’t read it that way. To me it’s a recognition that there are things in my head and in my past that I need to get over and fight back against. The line between “normal” people and a mob (or an Army) is thinner than I think most of us are comfortable with. People are complicated, there are people who’s politics that I find abhorrent who nevertheless perform fantastic acts of charity and kindness. There are people who’s politics I agree with that are selfish assholes. People are just complicated
