On this one year anniversary of the war in Ukraine, let us call out and condemn the apologists and cowards who would give Putin free reign to invade and destroy other free nations and to slaughter their citizens.
They are on our some of our “news” networks and even in the halls of Congress. They are a threat to liberty, freedom and democracy for all of us.
This war must be won on the home front, too. We must continue military aid until the war is won.
Never back down! Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦
Given that we can’t run Politwoops reliably anymore, we asked @derekwillis, who maintained it for @ProPublica the last 6 years or so, to write its goodbye (actually, its second goodbye). It’s a delightful read: https://www.propublica.org/article/politwoops-deleted-tweets-twitter-politicians-musk
Ok, so there is much discussion about the alt text on pictures. My mom is legally blind. As she has gotten older her sight is almost gone. She LIVES on the computer and to say she gets excited when special attention is paid for the blind is a great understatement. Please use alt text and describe the pictures you post. Describe it as if you had your eyes closed and the only link to the outside world is what a kind soul took an extra 5 minutes to type. Come on, do it, make someone’s day.#AltText

Hello. I’m pretty quiet on here, but I would like to connect with other people in the Wilson’s Disease community. A hashtag yielded nothing, so I’m starting it here. If you see this, please amplify. #WilsonsDisease #raredisease #rarediseases #rarediseaseadvocate #livertransplant #liverdisease #wilsondisease
Does anyone on here work on the Twitter API or know someone? Because it looks like with recent Twitter API changes, @ProPublica can't track deleted tweets from politicians anymore w/ Politwoops (projects.propublica.org/politwoops/).
The API we used for years has been deprecated, and the v2 API simply...does not seem to report deletions correctly. The new method to ingest tweets also seems very limited. And I'm not sure we actually understand what the paid model would be!
So is someone going to sue Kevin McCarthy and Fox News for this deal to hand over all the Capitol security footage from Jan. 6 to (checks notes) Tucker Carlson exclusively? How is that even remotely legal? @aclu
@funkatron good article!
I feel a personal moral responsibility to serve the needs of the users of software I create.
I am tasked with creating tools to help them solve problems they have.
That's my job. I have done it for 25 years, and I am pretty good at it.
The technology stacks have moved around, but the job hasn't changed.

Hi #ADHD people, do you know of any tool that would make a sound at chosen times of the day? Like a phone alarm but without requiring me to go turn if off, and also that would respect it if I put my phone in silent mode.
I'm looking for something that I could hear from another room and realize "it's time to change task". I used to have a cron job making my computer tell me, but currently I'm without computer so I'm looking more into android apps. Didn't find anything working yet!
Sure, after his presidency, Jimmy Carter could have just retired to a country club, put out petty diatribes insulting his "enemies," and played lots of golf. Instead, he decided to help build living spaces for people who needed them. He talked the talk and then walked the walk.
This is what it looks like to lead by example.
Today is the Day of Remembrance for the Japanese American community. 81 years ago today, when I was just a boy of four, FDR signed Executive Order 9066, setting in motion the evacuation of people of Japanese descent from the West Coast and our long years of internment inside ten barbed wire prison camps.
We must never let such a thing happen again in America, and and we must strive everywhere to prevent the forced relocation and mass incarceration of innocent people. #NeverForget #NeverAgain
@unwiredben Quite a coincidence!
