@GW The Pentagon budget is something some congresscritters will vote against, if and only if it will pass without their support. And then you have to take turns engaging in the political protest theater. Saunders had his turn this year. Last year he supported it.

People keep contacting me and asking when I'm gonna return to Twitter and I can't tell if they're trolling or just completely oblivious. I feel like I've been pretty clear that I think Twitter/X is a Nazi bar and I don't need attention badly enough that I'm gonna become a regular and help keep it afloat.

It's wild that the media has got to the point of trying to normalize homelessness by making it out to be this trendy new way to beat the system. It feels like they're trying to create this artificial separation so they can continue to push for anti-homeless legislation, but without getting any backlash from their working class readership who are currently getting priced out of the rental market.
@theropologist , I'm 6'3", and 250 lbs. I am a big guy, and can lift heavy things. I have known since I was about 18 that people get scared near me. I didn't understand this until I was older, mid 20s maybe. It changed how I acted around people... instead of being silent, I would tell a joke. I would sit more. I would wear clothing that was less intimidating. I would try to never be alone with anyone. I would smile a LOT more, even if I didn't feel like it.
It is amazing how often the smallest guy in the room would try and challenge me, still, to this day, and how often women will back away.
@flexghost , I strongly urge anyone with an education to flee that state, and a few others. Don't even think about going to college there, in a few years, that degree won't be worth a middle school certificate. Just LEAVE. You know that the climate is changing, that you won't be able to afford insurance for a home that may be wiped out by major hurricanes... Get out while the border is still open.
@NickGates A guy with a lot of issues, and a type of humor that I didn't understand, but obviously a great talent. He will be missed.

This week, I went over to Bluesky and asked people who'd left Mastodon why they left, and lots of people told me. I grabbed the replies and crunched them and wrote up a summary. I think it's really interesting and often kind of wrenching.

My mother wrote a book about poetry, how to read it. She was a teacher for most of her life.
Any ideas on how to self publish it? She isn't interested in making money on the book, she just wants to share her work.
@staidwinnow @noondlyt I suggest it all be A.I. I know, there could be cruelty to A.I charges leveled against the producers for making them imagine tre45on naked, but worth it.
