As a journalist, the level of engagement I've experienced here on Mastodon is markedly better than what I've experienced on Twitter, even with twice as many followers. Is it just me, or are other journalists noticing this as well? I'm not certain if this is because of the influx of new users, or the content is more curated/communal, or another reason entirely, but it's incredibly interesting.

@MikeDiGirolamo I’m really enjoying it. It’s like old school Twitter when people used to chat rather than just shout in to an echo chamber.

@rachaelphillips @MikeDiGirolamo kinda miss old twitter (like before 2016 twitter) I remember back in the old days you could even tweet by SMS. I once did that to ask a local meterologist if the groundhog saw his shadow because a blizzard had knocked out our cable tv/internet (but not power)

@JoshuaACasey @MikeDiGirolamo ha omg yes I remember the SMS too, and you could reply to notifications and it would automatically go to twitter. I joined in 2007 and it was just so different then. But this seems to be getting that "community" spirit back
