@stshank disappointed to see people go to other centralized social media platform instead of embracing the opportunity to change social media and make it so social media cannot be owned by anyone (ie mastodon)
@JoshuaACasey Federated social media has some advantages, but it's also got enough new complexity that I've seen people put off. At least in Mastodon's case. I don't think most people care about federated vs centralized — they just want a social network that works for them.
Bluesky's federated protocol isn't available yet, so Bluesky for now remains purely centralized.
