#StopVoringMe joining #UFOI, slandering @freemo, getting #UFOI on #Fediblock, leaving #UFOI and then getting mad that his instance is on #Fediblock despite no evidence of any activity worthy of being included on the list is exactly why freemo made #UFOI in the first place.

The #UFOI is certainly not the best system in the world, but the idea is great. Unfortunately, creating a good-faith system to compete with a bad-faith system is gonna be hard when the bad-faith system is incredibly popular and already notorious for ostracizing anything that disagrees with or contradicts it.

They brought their sick baby to the hospital. Three days later, the state took their kids away.

The Respect for Marriage Act, which isn’t as strong as it could be, but provides some backstop should the Supreme Court reverse its Obergfell decision that made marriage equality the law in all 50 states, passed the House today. Noteworthy: when it first came up in the House last summer, more Republicans voted for it (to the surprise of many). That gave it momentum that it didn’t have before to get through the Senate which brought it back to the House where…it got fewer GOP votes this time.

Apple told @WIRED that it's killing the iCloud Photos CSAM scanning plan for real and is instead investing in its opt-in family features for protecting kids and attempting to disrupt exploitation before it happens/escalates https://www.wired.com/story/apple-photo-scanning-csam-communication-safety-messages/

The move away from the iCloud Photos CSAM scanning idea comes as Apple is also announcing a slew of new security features today, including expanded end-to-end encryption for photos, notes, and backups (!!) https://www.wired.com/story/apple-end-to-end-encryption-icloud-backups/

I don't know who needs to know this, but there's a huge problem inside the Judicial Security Bill snuck into the NDAA, with a huge impact on journalists, gov't accountability, & internet providers

It has both a #section230 carve out and dramatically allows for federal judges to yank a whole range of info off websites about judges that they shouldn't be able to take down.

I saw a post on Reddit about how to cancel an Adobe subscription without the asshole "early cancellation fee" and figured it's worth sharing:

1. Login to your adobe account
2. Go to plans and payments
3. Find your current plan and select "Manage Plan"
4. The third box on the right should say "Cancel Plan"
5. It will ask you why, tell them "Go fuck yourself" and press continue
6. It will offer you to change plans, select "Photography plan (20GB)" - $9.99
7. Confirm the change
8. Now go back to your Plans and it may say "You'll be able to manage this plan shortly" and that's because there is a waiting period after starting a plan, probably to ensure you forget to cancel or something. Took about an hour for it to go away, so if it's there just walk away and refresh the page every 15 minutes or so.
9. Once you are able to manage your plan, repeat steps 3, 4, and 5. This time actually cancel the plan. There will be no early cancellation fee AND you'll be refunded the $9.99.

Fuck adobe.

Winter fun! ❄️
