“Death blowing bubbles,” 18th century. The bubbles symbolize life's fragility. This plaster work appears on the ceiling of Holy Grave Chapel in Michaelsberg Abbey, Bamberg, Germany. After the monastery’s dissolution in 1803, the buildings were used as the city's hospital.

I feel like being weird on here is a major perk. Weirdness is celebrated. I like that.

Today was a big day! We take my Dad out for a walk every week. It’s good for everyone’s mental and physical health and we all enjoy some fresh air.

We’ve now walked the whole of the Water of Leith walkway. Some of it upstream, some of it downstream. Some in sun, some in rain.

It feels like we conquered our last Munro!

Hello! I have made my way over to Mastodon!

For those of you who might not know me…my name is Mhara Starling, and I’m a Welsh folk Witch and polytheist. I’m an author, a coven leader, and I adore sharing my passion for all things magically Welsh!

I’m still figuring all of this out! But so far it seems marvellous!

I have a common physical #disability: I have to wear a prosthetic (glasses) to see clearly—I would be functionally blind without them. Luckily, glasses are widely available and socially accepted.

Let’s make sure all #disability and #accessibility products are as commonplace and widely accepted as glasses and contact lenses.

"The way you treat other people is the only meaningful expression of your #belief system anyway; it is the space where your #values are on full display."

"When it comes to the heart of it all, your #religion isn't what you believe, your religion is how you treat people."

From John Pavlovitz's book "If #God is Love, Don't be a Jerk: finding a #faith that makes us better humans", Chapter 15.

“All that we are looking for in life—all the happiness, contentment, and peace of mind—is right here in the present moment. … The only problem is that we get so caught up in the ups and downs of life that we don’t take the time to pause and notice what we already have.” —Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, “In Love With the World”
