@RickiTarr Got yelled at by a VP for not being in the office early because he couldn’t get into his computer. He had locked his hard drive with a password, and it wouldn’t take his password. So he’s yelling at me and calling me all sorts of names. I look at his keyboard, press caps lock, and ask him to try again. He types the password, and all is well. I just walked out, and went straight to HR.

A solid 7 hours sleep, pretty sure I didn't move all night. Am I sore today - just a tad, yesterday might have been rather a lot 😬

Lots to do again today - like finish emptying the wardrobe so I can dismantle that. Looking forward to that tbh, not looking forward to dealing with 100 hangers though.

In 2022 I cut off a BUNCH of services I had paid for, some of them for many years, some I used on occasion but was always loyal. Why have I cut the cord?

Because these companies are killing the planet and everyone on it - and they're using us to do it. I am super not down with paying my measly dollars to the person poisoning me. Because they lack any ethics and over a MILLION people have died due to the negligence of just ONE social media company.

The more I remove, the better I feel.

In 2023 I cut:
- YouTube prime
- Amazon prime
- Google cloud services
- Google APIs
- Google Suite (drive, docs, email)
- Doordash
- The New York Times
- Substack
- Vans (footwear company)

I downloaded all my #amazon #audioBooks into my own library. I replaced all the services I cut with #selfHosted software (where applicable). I channeled my new-found spare money into supporting:

- mstdn.ca & kolektiva.social
- #greenPeace
- Local independant media like @thenarwhal
- Supporting creators directly

The more corporate branded scum I scour off the better I feel!

In 2017, I crocheted myself a solar system costume. The headpiece is mounted on a bike helmet for stability (I got that tip from some folks who build showgirl costumes). The tunic is made from fine black linen yarn, very matte, very tedious, much like I imagine space is most of the time. The planets are made using an online sphere pattern generator, so that I could vary the sizes in a predictable way; they are strung on a fishing line with beads, and suspended from an elastic collar, also crocheted. They are also kept in place with a beaded "asteroid belt", located between Mars and Jupiter, of course. Photographed at Manhattan Beach Pier. My little village post office has an iconic Christmas Cactus. It has been there since 1929, making it 95 years old. It is one of the duties of the postmaster to keep it alive.

It has been split a couple times, and almost died during the ‘78 blizzard. If you walk around the town you can see several more hanging in windows because they occasionally give out cuttings for locals to propagate. Anyway, it's the talk of the town when it blooms, so I had to go take a pic to share.
