Been contemplating the recent flood of keen insights from @shengokai about the importance of considering context, history, and experiences beyond our own, especially as pertains to the design and creation of technology for interaction and social connection.
I wish that more software developers had healthy reactions to ideas and thinking that are new to them. I remember so many fights from my days in tech that ended in people adamantly insisting that innovation cannot be had by embracing difference.
I want to see the world that will get built by people who prize humanity and relationship and liberation, instead of popularity and the veneer of success.

Love to #sew, but don't do it enough. Love to #cook, but don't do it enough. Low-key bummed I don't travel anymore, but it's the #hermit life for me for now! I work in #tech, but not in the way I had planned. I look forward.

A few recommendations for life on Mastodon:
1) Follow anyone you think looks potentially interesting; you can always unfollow later, and they may lead you to new people via boosted posts.
2) Boost posts you think are worthy, so others can discover new content.
3) Don't obsess on replicating your Twitter follows on Mastodon; let it be its own experience, and grow it organically. Obvs follow anyone you miss from Twitter, but this isn't a 1:1 replacement; have fun, follow your instincts.
Urashima Taro is a Japanese folktale where the hero takes a journey deep under the sea to visit the legendary palace of the Dragon King. This magical ocean voyage is his reward for saving the Dragon King's daughter. However, when he returns home he opens a magical box and suddenly becomes an old man who realises 300 years have passed since he left. You can read the full tale, with more art here:

Lately I’ve been thinking about: #writing as a ritual.
How, when actively taking part in this #ritual it significantly impacts not just my writing but overall #wellbeing.
For example, I start most days with a walk—it’s slowly becoming a part of my writing ritual—and what I’m noticing is, an alertness I wouldn’t have if I weren’t writing.
It’s almost like, knowing that I’ll be writing makes me see everything differently—I’m growing more receptive, alive, and centered.
I'm not a "pro" anything except an enthusiast. If I make recommendations or say something incorrect, please feel free to comment on my posts with a correction. Just please don't be mean or a jerk about it. I am absolutely unafraid to say I was mistaken and correct course, and I will say thank you for the new knowledge you give me.
