You are blessed

By an awake Universe
By diversity of life itself
Saints, prophets and Buddhas of all realms and times
By the wise, the wonderful, the magic
By the elements, the season’s, the effortless splendour
The unfolding flowering
The growing
The light
The fathoms
The science

You are blessed

Try sitting in the Egyptian pose (on a chair), standing or walking meditation.
Try kneeling with pillows on your ankles.
Yoga asana ARE meditative postures.

If determined to continue sitting on the floor ...
Start with prostrations to the Buddha, this will warm you up a bit.

3 years ago, I planted 3 grapefruit seeds from a shop bought grapefruit. I now have these 3 small trees in the greenhouse, I think I'll have to plant them out next year as they're getting too big, but I don't know if they'll survive a British winter outdoors...

This is Majesty, the largest virgin oak tree in the UK. I'm lucky enough to live near it, its between 800 and 1000 years old, and the trunk is completely hollow!
I'd forgotten I'd taken this photo till I saw #ThickTrunkTuesday trending..

Thinking about a new electric car. Friends have bought a BYD - the seats are a bit psychedelic but it is generally a good lower-cost bundle - but I really don’t feel like I could drive around in something with Build Your Dreams in big words across the back. As for car names, I thought that was the worst.
Until I read today that carmaker Ora is going to debut in NZ with this doozy:
Good Cat.
Yep. A car called Good Cat. Cute car, but sheesh…

"Gardening is one of the most vital practices for teaching people the art of creaturely life. With this art people are asked to slow down and calibrate their desires to meet the needs and potential of the plants and animals under their care. Gardeners are invited to learn patience and to develop the sort of sympathy in which personal flourishing becomes tied to the flourishing of the many creatures that nurture them." ~ Norman Wirzba

Not so red kite.

A few years ago, when I visited a red kite feeding station in mid-Wales, I was very pleased to see the "celebrity" kite put in an appearance.

This leucistic white-coloured red kite was stunning and stood out from the crowd.

There was another one around too, though it still had wing tags, and wasn't quite so white.

HOW TO DEFEAT BORIS: all other parties should stand down in Uxbridge & South Ruislip at the next election, and let me take him down. That way he won't just lose, he'll lose in the way he deserves. #BinBoris

Don’t be afraid to remove a chapter - even several - if they don’t work. (Hold onto them, elsewhere, but put them aside if you need to.) #AmWriting

St Andrews is a great wee town in a great wee country - #Scotland.
Famous for the golf, but I just ignore that bit! It's got some lovely scenery on the beach areas, the cliffs and rocks, the botanic gardens and some great walks. Who needs golf!

I painted this one with oil pastel, the finer details ae colour pencil.

"Frugality is one of the most beautiful and joyful words in the English language, and yet one that we are culturally cut off from understanding and enjoying. The consumption society has made us feel that happiness lies in having things, and has failed to teach us the happiness of not having things. "
~ Elise Boulding

Take a course in good water and air; and in the eternal youth of Nature you may renew your own. Go quietly, alone; no harm will befall you."

Then a remarkable thing. We stop trying to impress others, ourself. We stop being impressed by the world, the spiritual path, the glam rock and roll dharma. We decide to get serious. No more games? Not ready? Games galore . . . carry on. Play on.

Some will be ready. Some have been ready. Some are always ready. Now what? Now you practice. Not as a game. Not for reward. Not for Buddha or your future salvation. Not for nothing.

You want to be told this again. Game? You want to hear it another way? Game!

You go to the basics. You have always had them. Nothing has been hidden from you. You play, the master game.

Your choice. Are you ready yet? Game on!

What games we play ...

When the Buddha looked at the people around him, he noticed they were all enlightened but not awake to the fact. Ignorance, clinging and skhandas had obscured their pristine and pure nature.

In effect the Buddha decided that the acquisition and development of mind states, which he had excelled at, was effectively, useless. Training could be a form of spiritual glamour. Look at me, I can sit with my monkey mind. Look at me, starved meself silly, I must be sincere. Hey I can quote the vedas/sutras and therefore I know what I am talking about. I had this mantra whispered by the secret Buddha of the Himalayas and . . .
. . . games . . .

I have mine. You will have yours.
