If you're a parent, and you're trying to figure out how to break it to your kid that the world is an arbitrary, unfair, bizarre, stupid place, just tell them this:
An adult horse produces about 15 horsepower.
@LouisIngenthron when I was a kid, and I gave the "It's not fair!" cry, my dad told me "Life's not fair. Get over it."
As an adult, I told a child about it. The child told me that my dad sounded mean. He really wasn't. But he effectively killed the "It's not fair" complaint.
