Well, clearly, a 12yo is a child and should not be bartered away as a possession. I'm not caring much about how someone's religion views this or the historicity of child marriages. In this century, it's clearly immoral, unethical, and abusive.

In deep red states like Texas and Louisiana, the minimum is 16, but even that requires a lot of hoops to be jumped through (like emancipation and judicial approval).
To the best of my knowledge, in no state in the US can you get married under the age of 15 without special dispensation from the judicial system.
