Fort Lauderdale airport is still underwater. My neighbor just came from there. He said it's a lake.
@shoq l expect #desantis will quickly gather the #florida assembly together to pass a law banning water from flooding #fortlauderdale and other state airports. Presumably he is also making arrangements to load the flood water into tankers for delivery to Northern #usa State Capitals
@marius_gs @shoq I think he probably considered that option, then realized it might help fix the property insurance crisis and quickly aborted.
@marius_gs @shoq Property insurance is crazy expensive in Florida despite the fact that insurance companies are losing crazy amounts of money (or just outright going bankrupt or leaving the state) and DeSantis has been widely criticized for doing absolutely nothing about it.
In my case, when I bought my home, I could only find one company who would even write an insurance policy, and it's gone up by several hundred dollars each year since.
@LouisIngenthron @shoq I am not a state resident. Are you telling me that #DeSantis anti woke laws don't address public issues like property insurability?
