@Illuminatus @emilygorcenski Well, in technology, System Admins and higher do have this expectation. DDoS, outage, or failed hardware? When the boss calls at 1am, you're remoting in from home or taking a trip to address it.

That's normal, but also System Admins should be paid above non-exempt employees for being on call like that. If someone is being paid hourly in Tech for that on-call expectation, I agree, run for the hills. (Especially when an employer shorts hours later that week to avoid overtime pay when emergencies happen.)

@Cefr @Illuminatus @emilygorcenski Right, but even then, that shouldn't happen often. If a SysAdmin gets these calls every week, that's another sign that it's time to find a job with better management.
