To all the people crying about "Why shouldn't YouTube be allowed to make money from ads!"

If I print a newspaper entirely funded through advertising revenue - and you pick up a free copy, do you think it is ok for me to break in to your house to make sure you are looking at the ads?

Because that is what YouTube are doing when they deploy their spyware to detect #adblockers
#privacy is a #fundamentalright - fight for it or lose it.

@thatprivacyguy

Long Live AdBlockers 👍

They just keep getting better and better.
Kudos to Brave, Noscript, Origin and all the others.

@maddad @thatprivacyguy Brave should not be on that list. They do some really shady shit.

@LouisIngenthron @thatprivacyguy

That stuff can all be disabled though. I'd take Brave on Linux over anything google any day of the week.

@gukkey

Fox is ok, a little bloated though and you still have to disable the google nonsense and setup the privacy and adblocker extensions.

@maddad firefox + ublock does the job for me and i don't feel firefox being bloated. things on android are a different story though.

@gukkey

I don't need ublock as the brave shields do the same thing. In fact shields uses the same resources and filters as ublock.
I do have noscript installed for an added safety feature.
For example if I watch youtube, I never see any ads at all and after about 10 minutes of viewing, shields is showing me a count of 99+ ads and trackers blocked.
I never saw that with ublock.

@maddad i used brave for sometime and i kinda feel like it was bloated. i used it before a year or two, so the idk how it performs these days, hope it's better and not worse.

@gukkey

I still have firefox setup as my #2 and I think brave is faster. I have never bench tested anything though.
I'm also using nordvpn with lynx which gives extra privacy protection but may add a small speed penalty too.
Maybe it's time to do do some testing and research again..😂

@maddad @thatprivacyguy Right, but that's like saying "I'll let someone piss on my leg rather than eat a shit sandwich."

Firefox, uBlockOrigin, NoScript. That's the trifecta.

No need to use a privacy-violating, ad-helping, crypto-scamming company to do it.

@LouisIngenthron @thatprivacyguy

I never see any of that stuff on brave as it's all disabled.

'Firefox, uBlockOrigin, NoScript. That's the trifecta.'
This is my 2nd go to 😀

@maddad @thatprivacyguy Okay, well the last argument I'll try making is a moral one. The people who run brave are... not good people.
