I began my lifelong #photography career at age 11 shooting activities for my Boy Scout troop, and never stopped.

But last night I had a sad when someone showed me a really cool pic of ice/snow on trees in Finland, and my first thought was “I wonder if this is real?”

Deepfakes are a serious threat to photography, because now we cannot know for sure what is real unless we shot it ourselves. It is a sign of our troubled times that this is so prevelent, just one more way #tech has failed us.

@Av8rdan Another way to know it's real is by shooting on a polaroid 😋

But, really, this was inevitable. And, for the vast majority of use cases, it doesn't really matter if it's "real".

Besides, the only thing that makes a "real" picture real is the story behind it anyway. And AI can't take that away.
