Believing a negotiated two-state solution is a possibility is like believing Santa and the Easter Bunny are real. It's a comforting myth that people need to give up before any resolution of the conflict is possible.

Bibi's won three elections since saying explicitly that there would never be a Palestinian state on his watch. Back then, he represented the extreme right, but not today.

Even in an alternate universe in which the political will were there and Israel were willing to cede control of West Bank water resources etc., there's been so much settlement construction that the evacuations required to create a contiguous Palestinian state would set off a civil war.

@LouisIngenthron @MattFerrel The only option at this point would be a binational state with some sort of power-sharing mandate and robust protections for minorities. That’s certainly not possible in the foreseeable future. But coming to grips with the reality that two states are a fantasy is the first step.
