No, U-Haul, I do not want to install your stupid app so I can rent a trailer one time and then not deal with you for another three to five years. Just make your damn website work.

I really hate it when companies do this. I just went through this with a money transfer app a few months ago.
Before you install the app, check out what data the app wants access to. It's usually just about everything.
@maddad @bruce Yep. I refused to download my bank's app for years until they stopped requiring unnecessary permissions (like for contacts. What does my bank need with my contacts?).
But, otoh, the categories offered by the OSes are... not well designed, and not granular enough. I.e. there's no way for an app to request permission to be able to save photos without also asking for permission to read all of your saved files.

Iphone is doing a bit better now, but there is a long ways to go in the privacy area of apps.
