Steam is updating their content policy by asking developers to label when their games contain art, code or sound generated by AI. They also will allow users to report illegal AI content.
Both policies are weird. Outside of CSAM, what is illegal AI content?
Why should it matter to an end user if the game they are playing contains Copilot generated code or art from Adobe Firefly or DALL•E?
This is effectively enabling a culture war around AI to exist on steam.
