Screw Ted Cruz.
MAGA corporate toadie.

Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Bill Hagerty (R-TN.) want the SENATE to block a draft SEC rule on AI use in finance.

“The draft rule unveiled last July would require financial firms to identify and eliminate conflicts of interest that emerge from their use of artificial intelligence tools, and to ensure they are prioritizing their clients’ interests over their own bottom lines.”

FTS.

@kegill Before I join you in ragging on Cruz, why do we need this rule? Is there not already a generic rule about conflicts of interest that would apply regardless of whether or not AI was involved?

@LouisIngenthron

No. There may be at the state level. The FCC explains in its statement.

@kegill Screw AI then, let's rewrite this to be a generalized anti-conflict-of-interest federal law!

@kegill Wait, what? I thought this was a draft *SEC* rule, not FCC...?

@LouisIngenthron

I have a migraine. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I was thinking about the FCC rule on AI generated voices in robocalls.

Sorry! Yes, Cruz is belatedly criticizing an SEC rule.
