@koherecoWatchdog You're the one claiming they're responsible for other's actions.
@koherecoWatchdog Lmfao, you think clicking buttons is delegation?
@koherecoWatchdog Again, that's a nonsense claim. Cite a source.
@koherecoWatchdog The article supports my argument.
"The seven Twitter users involved claim their accounts were blocked by the president, or his aides, after they replied to his tweets with mocking or critical comments."
No "delegation" to Twitter whatsoever involved.
@koherecoWatchdog Exactly. Politicians have no control over who Twitter bans, which is why it has nothing to do with #1A.
@koherecoWatchdog Onion links dont count on the regular internet.
@koherecoWatchdog Accountable for their own actions, not the actions of a third party.
@koherecoWatchdog Bullshit. Cite a source.
@koherecoWatchdog They didn't "empower" them with anything other than hosting their speech. They have full control over who to ban from their own account.
@koherecoWatchdog That's complete nonsense. Cite a precedent to back up your claim if you think you can.
@koherecoWatchdog No, it's not. Neither is a violation of 1A, for the exact same reasons. You don't have any right to force other private parties to host your speech, even if politicians use that medium for communication.
The only thing 1A restricts in that sense is the agent of the government specifically blocking citizens.
@koherecoWatchdog Of course they are. But Twitter moderating its own platform is not an example of politicians delegating a single thing.
@koherecoWatchdog So then, by that logic, every politician who has ever been on cable news is violating 1A because those cable news channels are censoring me by not allowing me to be on the segment to refute the politician.
@koherecoWatchdog No, they don't. They only violate 1A when they do the censoring themselves.
@koherecoWatchdog Of course not. But setting up a Twitter account is not remotely comparable to paying people to beat up protesters.
@koherecoWatchdog Lol, no, Twitter can't violate 1A on behalf of a politician.
@koherecoWatchdog You don't even need to do that. Their TOS says they can ban you for no reason at all.
And, no, an action by Twitter is not a 1A violation for politicians on Twitter. They're not responsible for the actions of a third party.
@koherecoWatchdog Twitter removing people for TOS violations wasn't a 1A violation either.
@koherecoWatchdog In the sense that they can't prevent people from interacting with them if they use it for official gov business, sure.
But which platforms they choose to be on has nothing to do with "respect for 1A".
@koherecoWatchdog Also, the fediverse isn't necessarily as 'free' about speech as you think. Instance blocks, in particular, are heavy handed and delivered with reckless abandon.
