@arossp There's a surprising amount of that at the top levels of the private sector too.
@ThinkingSapien I wouldn't be surprised if "it's burdensome for parents to track what kids are reading" was used as an excuse to ban books many times over in history.
@ThinkingSapien Children are biologically incapable of not drinking poison from under the sink too... that's why we have child-guards. And parents.
These people really want a nanny state....
@antipode77 @NatlSecCnslrs And what kind of secrets are being kept from the public that they don't want FOIA'able.
@bergmayer That's questionable, legally. AI is a tool, not an agent. And that tool requires a prompt by a user to produce content. Therefore, the content could be considered user-produced rather than provider-produced.
Legally, it could be no different than spellcheck in a Word document.
@antipode77 @NatlSecCnslrs It also means the agency only needs to defend one door, instead of thousands.
With a decentralized infrastructure, they won't be able to reliably enforce security rules, making it easier overall to access the individual nodes.
@NatlSecCnslrs Yeah, I was going to say, that reads like they *designed* their infrastructure to make searches burdensome under the law to evade FOIA requests...
Why would an intelligence agency have decentralized email? That's *terrible* for security.
These people are literally trying to break the internet for everyone because they couldn't exert a little self-control.
@ThinkingSapien By that logic, they should open every letter sent through the USPS because CSAM could potentially be sent through the mail.
Instead of a coordinated, funded effort by LEO to take down the abusers, they're flailing wildly and trying to punish the entire internet...
Which job posting is better?
A: “It's more important that you have a solid foundation as a web developer than knowing about every framework”
B: “React—we use React—you should know React”
Just something to think about as “using React makes it easy to hire React developers” is somehow still taking up space in the dialogue.
OMG. @caseynewton @zoeschiffer this is amazing beyond amazing.

@z_everson Why are journalists asking him any questions unrelated to his endless fraud?
@dgolumbia That's not so unthinkable here. If you get a judgement against someone for defamation, you can get a court order demanding web hosts remove the content.
We just don't pretend that Google has somehow defamed someone by linking to the actual defamation.
@jeffjarvis @hybridhavoc Or you could just sign up to a mast instance that has QTs implemented properly 🤷♂️
I love #CitiesSkylines #MapEditor more than the game itself. There's something very zen about slowly sculpting an empty field into a complex series of mountains and rivers.
@drewharwell This sounds like the newspaper articles my parents used to read about cable and Nintendo.
