According to CNN, #SBF was found guilty yesterday. But won't be sentenced for another 5 months.
Can someone from #LawFedi explain that delay? It seems like an excessive amount of time to me.

The way we write about and report on the wholesale slaughter of women in Australia has to change.
The “tragic reason” this man murdered his “beloved” wife?
He had secretly spent their savings and didn’t want to be found out.
We report on male violence from the assumption that they’re “good blokes”
Newsflash: Murdering your wife makes you *not* a fucking good bloke.

@peterdrake For-profit startups tend to be the best at that, because they crave usage and adolation.
FOSS comes second, because so many of the developers are, by nature, dog-fooding the engine.
Publicly-traded companies are the worst, though, because every decision they make is based on short-term profit, and fixing bugs doesn't make any money.
@peterdrake Trace it back far enough? The answer is IPO.
Watching The Sopranos, it's remarkable how much more I like Carmella than Skyler from Breaking Bad.
Both are the wives of big bad criminals who keep them in the dark. Both are strong women who struggle with what the father of their children does for a living.
I think the reason I like Carmella more is that she's a woman of action and determination and she doesn't fuck around, whereas Skyler was more of a mopey woman of complaining. But it could simply be the actresses' performances or any other of a million things, not sure...
@brody Me neither. And apparently it already has a demo up on Steam.
@peacenhappynow@mastodon.social @Nonilex Please take your idiotic and bigoted fearmongering out of my mentions. Thanks.
@renwillis Right, but I've also had several people (including a few Jewish folks) tell me that my anger at Israel *is* a hatred for Jewish people, and I'd like to argue that they're also doing outrage wrong.
@jeffjarvis Oh, great, a politician lecturing us on technology.
@pieist Right, but hashtags are how you find those accounts to follow.
I've found a nice middle-ground though: Set up Lists to follow hashtags. That way they don't end up on your home screen, but any time you feel like you're not getting enough content, you can visit the list to find more.
@arossp I mean, the God that *most* religious people believe in massacred all Egyptian firstborn children to punish a single man who doubted Him, so....
Ha! Brilliant.
@JamesGleick So, what's the answer? Kill the old institutions and let some upstarts innovate with plain, direct language?
Saw a doctor finally more than two hours after my appointment was scheduled.
I'm supposed to get surgery, but I think I'll find somewhere with an ounce of professionalism first before I schedule it.
@micahflee Right, except only one is actually a government.
Finally got in, an hour after my appointment time. Now they say I need two tests, but they don't know how much it'll cost me. 🤦♂️
