Better be willing to be surveilled, say Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr and Deputy AG John Fowler, or you're a criminal.
Protest is a First Amendment right. Carr is trying to squelch protest against a new military police training facility by trying protesters under RICO. He must not have much else if "didn't have any data on their phone" is all the state has on Ayla King.
It would be terrible not just for these defendants though, but as precedent for all of us.

Attempts to limit non-legal-adults' access to social media should be reflexively rejected like book banning is, and like Frederic Wertham's comic book panic was before. It's all about restricting their access to information.

By the way, you won't ever defeat fascism by if you're incapable of self-reflection. Acknowledging our flaws is a prerequisite to fixing them. Anyone who can't see that is subject to the same biases they decry in their opponents.
