@osc Right, but there are racist dickheads everywhere, not just Mastodon. Isn't that what blocking and reporting is for?
@osc It would seem to me that the vast majority of users here are nice and inviting. But, like with any network, the "vibe" is controlled by the vocal minority.
I would think most networks would eventually develop such a parallel problem.
@betschart How many vampires would this kill exactly?
@KatM It would be helpful if you called out the specific organizations and their exact methods of dishonestly. Both to better warn others and to draw media attention.
@shoq What?! We had a phosphogyspum disaster in Florida just two years ago!

@djlink The engine isn't exactly in the best state either, though, tbh. They've lost touch with their customers and keep pushing half-baked features to wow investors.
@w7voa ...right, he has a press secretary for that.
Where are all my Browncoats at?
Been binging Firefly all day and am now in Serenity, and... this series, cut off as it is, remains one of the most majestic of all time.

@peterdrake Not a python expert, but if it's internally consistent, then the list would be a literal, but the variables could be references or literals based on their original type.
Another term for this, however, would be "inline instantiation".
@Acer The question is whether you're choosing to do something or whether you're choosing to avoid not doing it. If you're choosing to do it, you're probably fine. But if you choose not to do the thing, and are immediately racked with remorse and regret for that choice, you may be addicted.
@c_9 Hmmm... not a fan. Red means stop, not slow.
Once speeders realize these aren't real lights, it may just start training them to ignore other red lights...
The Hawk seems like a much more internally-consistent method of making pedestrians safer.
@shoq Dems have abandoned Florida to the wolves. Politically, I can't really blame them. We need to wait a decade or two for the older generation who votes red by reflex to die off.
The voters are far more to blame than the hateful vessels they elect.
@ryanlcooper Hell, most of us actual gun owners want stricter gun control. We just keep ending up at odds with people who want to arbitrarily ban weapons based on their shape or color.
Y'know, over here we're all laughing at Musk for taking the worst of Twitter and amplifying it for $8 a month... But maybe that's what people who remain there want.
I remember the thrill of arguing with idiots. The self-righteous rage. Has Elon actually changed the business model to more efficiently harvest this hate-based-engagement from those too addicted to it to quit?
@freemo @admitsWrongIfProven What? No, our system itself enforces the two-party system.
The "first-past-the-post" nature of the electoral college necessarily encourages coalition building into two large powers.
