@Melody@masto.ai I hope you're not seriously asking this. #Religion has always been about control. Some religions or sects are more controlling than others, but they all try to control people to a greater or lesser degree.

If you get a chance, see if your local library has (or can get through interlibrary loan) "The Gods of Eden" by William Bramley. Just be forwarned that he believes that the earliest gods were extraterrestrials (but then as I have said before, if you believe in a God that lives in heaven and a devil that lives in hell and angels and demons then you already believe in extraterrestrials, because they don't live on Earth in our reality). But if you can get past that, he does a pretty fair job of showing how religions have been used to control people from the earliest times. A lot of people think #Christofascism is something relatively new, but it has been around in various guises for a very long time.
