Is it bad that no matter what #linux #distro I try I always come back to #linuxmint ? I know it's just a "beginner distro" that's not as good as Arch and it doesn't have Wayland support and it has an old kernel and it's too far from
upstream projects and the UI is straight out of #windowsxp but it just works on everything I throw it on and I've come to admire its quirks. Is that bad?

A top civil rights attorney is threatening to sue Gov. Ron #DeSantis over his administration's decision to reject an AP African American course from being offered to high schoolers.

The move comes as DeSantis, who objected to the course because he felt it had a political agenda by discussing topics like queer studies & abolishing prisons, claimed victory after the College Board said the program would get a "new framework," although it's unclear what tweaks will be made.

Of course it's a mistake for Facebook to restore Trump's account, on all kinds of levels. But the rancid extremism that he spews isn't the most dangerous part.

My response at this point when emailers ignore my unsubscribe attempts: I just filter ALL emails from the offenders directly to the junk mail folder. Takes ~15 seconds and it's done.

Note: I do generally recognize -- and do not respond to -- scam/phishing emails. What I'm talking about here are the "legitimate" businesses that either don't care enough to do this right, or figure I won't notice when they ignore my requests.

Needless to say I don’t follow these accounts and I don’t have push notifications turned on for either of them. Elon’s getting more and more desperate every day.

A few thoughts on Meta's reinstatement of Trump
-Clegg implied that the mostly peaceful transfer of power during the 2022 midterms factored into Meta's decision. But as others have pointed out the risks associated with midterms and presidential elections are very different.
