Lots of rhetoric in new Mayor, Mark Sutcliffe's inaugural speech about how it is wrong to "have an ideology."
Folks - there is nothing wrong with being principled and having an ideology that pushes for a city that prioritizes the interests of residents over the interests of a privileged and wealthy few.
We've got a long four years ahead of us...
@BrownKnowser Beautiful!

There’s no space in the ICU if your infant or your grandmother gets #COVID19 or influenza or RSV. More than half your child’s classmates and teachers are away sick. Your coworkers are contagious. But anonymous woman phoned me to say, “stand down.” Nope. #BringBackMasks #WeNotMe
@Kclemson Wow, yeah… Can’t see that becoming routine.
@NFB @Mastodon @Misshavisham “A Capital Plan,” “The Man in the Peace Tower,” and “Capital City.”
Odd that the narrator for “A Capital Plan” isn’t credited… Maybe Lorne Greene was so recognizable by then that the audience didn’t need help identifying him 😄
Anyway, fun to see how the city looked in days gone by.
Keep track with the dumpster fire.

@herid Yeah, I get the impression that a lot of people are thinking, “If it was really necessary, they’d mandate it.”
There is a workshop at the Fields Institute right now. I estimate maybe 15% of people attending are masking. Appeals by CMOH for voluntary masking absolutely don't register (most people aren't even aware of them).
This isn't surprising in the least. Outsourcing public health policy to individual choices by people never worked and never will. Moore knows this but chooses to do nothing.

Is #MineralMonday a thing on here? If not can we make it a thing please 😅 here’s some gorgeous Mexican crazy lace agate to brighten your day! Agate is a type of fibrous microcrystalline silica (quartz) known as chalcedony 🖤 #geology
@Kclemson @corsairmo I hear you! I had the “50th birthday present” colonoscopy and it probably saved my life, or at least my colon. Big mass, not cancerous (yet). Apparently my large intestine likes to grow things, so I go back every year. All told, next month’s will be #11. After that many, *nothing* fazes you 😄
Retired Chem/Physics/Earth Sciences teacher. I'm interested in everything.
I like a good debate that introduces me to other perspectives. I don't waste much time with people who devolve to name-calling or insults, aside to call them out on it.
I think society performs at its best when we take care of others, especially the weakest among us. That means a strong social safety net, with "free" healthcare, education, and public transit. It's a dream, I know.
30+ years of explaining stuff to teenagers has left me with some habits... I'm not a mansplainer, but I *do* like to find ways to 'splain stuff to receptive ears 😊
I like dogs, cats, and astronomy pictures with a bias towards the shorter wavelengths (kinda leaves out all those lovely Hα pics 😄).
The first thing I look at when shopping for cars is headroom/legroom. Saves a lot of time.
