Major General Henry Lawton served in the US Army from 1861-1899, which included the Civil War, Spanish-American War, and Philippine-American War. He participated in notable battles such as Philippi, Shiloh, Chickamauga, Atlanta (earning the Medal of Honor), Las Guasimas, El Caney, and Santiago.

He was killed in the Battle of Paye in 1899, the highest ranking US officer killed in the Spanish-American or Philippine-American War, and the 1st US general killed in overseas action.

The decrease in Monthly Active Users (MAU) as reported by @fediverseobserver that has been occurring since people faded away after the initial #twitterMigration account creation spike in Nov/Dec appears to have leveled at just over 1.4 Million users. It had peaked at 2.4M. It is now creeping up by a few hundred a day. Active content generation is what will really bring this place to into legitimacy. I found my car battery had died, parked in a somewhat rough part of town. I stood beside it with jumper cables in my hand, and tried to catch the eye of folks passing by in their cars. Most wouldn't look at me.

Then a fellow in a van stopped and said, "Need a jump?"... and he helped me out.

I thanked him and offered him a few bucks afterwards. He said, "No way, buddy — just pay it forward!"

That was 35 years ago.

I still remember him. ❤️
