i don't know what Macron wants for France or what French people think of him, but i do agree with his idea that Europe should get a little more ambitious. we most certainly know how to do that. we shaped world history as it exists today. we just took a step back after WWII.

They refuse to fund initiatives (Medicaid) approved by the voters, pass laws that make it more difficult for voters to put initiatives on the ballot, pass laws to override federal guns laws (much to the consternation of the police), push for school vouchers and vote to defund libraries.

NPR's operating budget is $300 M, and 1%, or $3 M is funded by federal subsidies

The LA Times calculates the federal subsidies Musk's companies have received at $4.9 B.

Let's be generous and say Musk received those subsidies over a 10 year period, while NPR would have received ~$30 M in subsidies.

4.9 B / 30 M = Musk received 163x what NPR has from "the state."

Who is state funded then?

So for over a week now Elon Musk's circle of friends have been going on and on insisting that Bob Lee's killer was obviously an unhoused individual and blaming the city for not jailing more people.

Now, it turns out that the guy who killed him was another tech exec who knew him, and they were originally in a car together.
